I started on the Graduate Programme with a placement in Children’s Services in October 2014. I worked specifically with the Early Years team. While on the programme, I also got the opportunity to support the Children’s Services Leadership team secure a £5 million bid from the Department of Education to transform the way the city approaches children’s social work. I then had a placement in the City Development directorate, within the Culture and Sport Service. During this time I supported the planning for the World Triathlon Series that is coming to Leeds from London for the first time in 2016. I had the opportunity to work with a number of partners on this project and engaged with a number of senior managers across the authority.

These activities helped develop my skills and confidence.
In January 2016 I gained a promotion to a role within HR and will remain working on the Culture and Inclusion programme whilst supporting Children’s Services.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the programme and feel that the opportunities it provided helped me secure a permanent role and start developing my career in Local Government at Leeds City Council.
